SUPER SPEED DATING

In the good old days, you used to actually get to go out with a girl before she decided to dump you. These days, you meet a girl online, you exchange dozens, if not hundreds of text messages, emails and phone calls with her over the next few weeks, and then she dumps you -- before you ever meet.

That is the most significant development in the world of dating in the last 20 years. It used to be the girl actually had to meet you face-to-face before she could make up her mind about you.

Nowadays, the girl can decide she's not feeling the connection with you before you ever meet. This is very frustrating for us guys, who feel that if we could just get that one date with her, we would win her over with our charming personlaities. But if she never gives you that date, you're dead in the water. Oh well.

On the plus side, at least you don't have to spend a ton of money on a girl who really isn't that into you.

Texting

I met a girl online a few weeks ago. We texted back & forth a few times, even spoke on the phone once or twice. We arranged our first date via text message.

But on the day of the date, she texted me saying she had fallen and sprained her ankle and wouldn’t be able to make it. We rescheduled the date for a few weeks later, after her ankle had healed. But on the day of the make-up date, she didn’t pick up her phone and never answered my text.

Just like that, it was over. We never actually met. Our entire “relationship” took place via e-mails and text messages. I think that will be an increasingly more common phenomenon in the near future.

People are basically cowards at heart, and technology now allows people to send their bad news & break-ups electronically without ever having to see the other person face to face.
